Place the body through the hole in the fabric, place the ring over the end and use a eyeletting machine to close the two parts together to form a metal ring round the hole to reinforce it. Often used on tarpaulins so they can be tied down with cords and ropes, or on webbing so it can be fixed with bolts or screws.
