The chip can be configured as 4 unbalanced input channels or two differential channels.

As a nice extra, it includes an amplifier with programmable gain (up to x16) to amplify smaller single/differential signals to full range. It can operate from 2V to 5V power/logic, measure a wide range of signals and is easy to use. It's a great 16-bit converter for general purpose.

The chips are quite small so they come on a breakout board with ferrites to keep AVDD and AGND quiet. The connection is via I2C. The address can be changed to one of four options, so you can connect up to 4 ADS1115s to a single 2-wire I2C bus for 16 single-ended inputs.
