For authenticity, this product is supplied unlacquered and has, instead, been expertly hand waxed. This wax serves as a basic protective layer against moisture however, if exposed to the outdoor elements for prolonged periods of time, this item will develop a surface rust. If required, the wax layer can be removed using a light oil such as WD40 with a fine-grade wire wool and then re-finished with a metal-based paint.
