It uses the cyclone head from the Workshop AW118CI Cyclone Dust Extractor. It is designed to be used with a standard High Volume Low Pressure chip extractor to provide enough airflow. Using this interceptor, you can create a wood dust and chip extractor which will handle even fine dusts from drum sanders.

You can either use this unit to upgrade your current workshop chip extraction system (with the typical bag filter) or place this unit next to a drum or belt sander to intercept the fine dusts before the air stream reaches the chip extractor. This is just the Cyclone body unit only, fitted with a 250mm diameter flange mounting on the bottom to allow you to use your own waste container. This gives great flexibility of choice, size and mounting position within the workshop.

It is fitted with 100mm inlet and outlets, which suits many common woodworking machines. It is not advised to use this interceptor with a High Pressure Low Volume (vacuum) type extractor, but if you do you must provide a vacuum release valve on your container to prevent an implosion if the inlet hose becomes blocked.
