The single channel preamp includes a Cinemag input transformer and an Edcor output transformer, as well as packing 80dB of gain control. The B173 MKII includes built-in Phantom Power for connecting condenser microphones, as well as a D.I Input for instrument such as electric guitars. The unit itself only takes up a 1U half-rack unit, saving space in any studio.
