Coral sand will buffer the pH of the water to around 8.2, meaning it is ideal for marine aquariums and also African cichlid freshwater tanks due to these species preferring a higher pH water. This coral sand is supplied as a 5kg bag. The grain size of the sand is 0.5-2mm.

Coral sand has a very high surface area, and is very porous, which allows beneficial bacteria to colonise and assist with the effective filtering of the aquarium water. This sand also has a rich calcium, carbonate and trace element composition.
