Place the DOURO on a flat surface, hold the handle firmly, and pull the plunger up and out of the carafe. Add one heaping teaspoon or one Bodum spoon of coarsely ground coffee for each cup or 120 ml of water. Pour hot water (about 92–96 oC) into the carafe, leaving at least 2.5 cm of space at the top, and stir the coffee with a plastic or wooden spoon.

Place the plunger on the pot and turn the lid to close the spout to retain heat. Let it steep for four minutes, then slowly press the plunger down. Turn the lid to open the spout and pour yourself a delicious cup of coffee.

Rinse with warm soapy water before the first use and after each subsequent use.
