These Centaur Brake Calipers are a highly-evolved component that benefits from Campagnolo’s vast experience creating components for demanding cyclists. The Centaur utilizes a refined dual-pivot design that benefits from trickle-down technology. The calipers have been sculpted by their efforts to refine Super Record calipers over the years.
Weight for the set is 325g. As a result, the shape is minimal, yet able to stop with power and modulation. The brake’s position over the rim is micro-adjusted by a screw on one of the arms.
The distance of the pads to the rim is fine-tuned with a barrel adjuster atop the same arm. The height of the pads is adjusted via the sides of the arms, with a series of washers, both conical and round, which allow you to fine-tune the pitch and angle of the pads when they hit the rim. The pads are replaceable, are shaped to the SRAM/Shimano standard to make finding replacement pads easy, and can be removed from the shoes by backing out a tiny hex-head bolt at the back of the shoes.
Campagnolo has also introduced a new pad compound which improves stopping power and modulation in both the wet and dry. The Campagnolo Centaur Brake Calipers are designed to work best with Campagnolo brake levers. They come in two colors, Black and Silver.
