Back in the 1960s, Percy Coate began experimenting with the willow he grew to make drawing charcoal. Although it took some years to perfect the technique, by the 1970s, he was finally ready to share the new Coates Willow Charcoal with the world.

Coates Charcoal is excellent quality and ideal for fine, detailed drawing, as well as producing bold marks. This pack contains 12 thick sticks with a 7-12mm diameter, ideal for large-scale drawings. The charcoal is carefully packaged so it retains its shape during transit.
