The players take on the role of allied prisoners of war or German prison guards. The POWs gather equipment and plan an escape. The guards are more limited in number, but have absolute authority.

75th Anniversary Edition This special anniversary edition of the Escape from Colditz game was released to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Major Pat Reid's escape from Colditz Castle. It is a deluxe version that has been completely reworked visually. Escape from Colditz 75th Anniversary Edition includes both the original and updated game rules, hand-painted artwork, an oversized game board, 56 wooden game pieces, 100 illustrated cards, a 32-page history book and unique replicas of prison artifacts.
