Originating from Japan and China, it has a dense and bushy habit with large, wing-like leaves which taper to points of up to 7cm long.

The foliage of Euonymus alatus begins a deep bottle green before turning a startlingly vibrant red; with small pale green flowers flourishing in August to September. The beautiful flowers then give way to eye-catching reddish-purple fruits. This remarkable hardy shrub reaches heights of 2m, so is a great addition to brighten up garden borders when other plants are beginning to fade.
