The heads of the Fame First Step drums lie cleanly on the ridges and are easy to tune. The tension hoop in combination with the five tuning screws promises accurate tuning and a clear sound profile. The headstock and tom mount are partly made of aluminium, which results in a modern look and a reduced transport weight.

Conventional 7/8 inch tom holders, e. g. from Pearl or Fame, fit into the side-mounted tom mount.
