Some Esbit stoves have air holes where the fuel tablet should lie, and then gel will not fit (unless you put e.g. aluminum foil in the bottom). The gel can also be used as a fire starter instead of birch bark, just wipe it out a little gel under your kindle.

Used for field stove etc. The ethanol gives a very high energy content and burns with a strong flame, energy content approx. 28,000 kJ / kg.

The gel can even be used indoors and does not emit soot or strong smell. Can be stored with food as it is non-toxic. Waterproof, burns even if wet.

It also works as an emergency antibacterial if you need to disinfect a wound in an emergency. Each bag contains 200 ml. The tablets are NATO-approved and used by the British defence.
