Following on from the OG Dominator and the 2.0 model this new version delivers more performance whilst maintaining a usable feel. The Firewire Dominator Pro in the Helium tech is similar to the 2.0 but is more pulled in nose and tail to give harder faster turning to allow the board to deal with more critical conditions. It carries less volume than the 2.0 and sits below the Slater FRK in performance terms.

The single concave under the front foot is a little more pronounced, this runs into a double concave through the fins and double vee out of the tail - a fairly standard set up for a performance shortboard. The rail profile is pretty aggressive, the rails pull down just below the middle of the board and are tapered hard into the tail. This board has snappy off the tail surfing written all over it.

A true performance outline and feel but still with sensible volume to make surfing it a pleasure not a chore.Firewire’s Helium tech is all about making an already amazing set of construction options even better. Its lighter, more durable than regular PU boards and thus far is proving a little more robust than Firewire's LFT construction. High Density Aerospace Composite Deck Skins and a new Paulownia/Balsa mix on the rails gives a faster flex response.

Having surfed the tech in a couple of different models it does feel light but the speed through a stiffer feel and responsiveness is exceptional, Helium is here to stay.Firewire surfboards are more durable than other surfboard manufacturing processes, and for 90% of surfers they will improve your surfing.
