An hourglass shape aids in floatation whilst providing enough surface area to be manoeuvrable when on ridgelines. Whilst designed primarily for deep power the unit features two toe spikes that allow for improved purchase on hardpack ice. For reliability, the Monterosa uses a metal heel lift in oppose to plastic for improved durability during colder conditions.

The entire set supplied with a zippered bag for transport and storage. Named after the Italian locality of the Monterosa valley famed for its winter snowfall, the Grivel Monterosa snowshoe.
