The outer cable casings made of lead-free PVC meet all international standards in terms of material quality and chemical composition. In addition to a wide range of colours, the Jagwire outer brake cable casings are available in three different quality levels.

CEX and CGX-SL are classic outer brake cable casings. In these, the inner cable sheath (liner) is surrounded by a wound steel band. This winding allows a certain compression, but the degree of compression depends on the carbon content of the steel.

For this reason, Jagwire offers two different versions: CGX-SLis a high-carbon steel outer shell with Slick-Lube liner. Slick-Lube is a lubricant that is incorporated into the liner over the entire length of the outer casing and noticeably reduces the friction of the inner cable. The result is an outer shell with extremely low compression.

The CEX outer shells are not made of steel, which does not have the enormous strength, and the liner is without Slick-Lube lubrication. All outer liners are supplied in a zip bag including end caps (10 m including 20 / 3 m including 6 end caps).
