Initially, Fletcher's background was in textile design and she originally graduated from the Manchester College of Art during the 50s. Her paintings are woven with her textile history and this can also be seen in her skilful use of colour. Adelene has received numerous awards and critical acclaim, exhibited in the Royal Institute of Painters and written and illustrated her own books.
