Featuring a secure, tightly-closing lid, this feeder makes it difficult for determined squirrels to access the food. When it’s time to refill or clean, the lid opens wide for easy access. Perfect for offering nutritious suet balls, this feeder is simple to hang from a tree, hook, or feeding station — providing your birds with a safe, squirrel-resistant dining experience.

Dimensions - Height: 29 cm x Diameter: 20 cm. Hygiene - Always ensure your bird feeding areas are cleaned on a regular basis to reduce the chance of germs and diseases spreading. A Note on Juvenile Squirrels Our feeders are designed to protect against adult grey squirrels and large birds like magpies, crows, and rooks, which typically cause the most damage.

While certain birds, such as woodpeckers, may not fit through the bars, they could still manage to reach the food with their beaks. However, there’s a chance that adolescent squirrels, being more agile and flexible due to their fluffy fur, could squeeze through the bars and access the feeder. Squirrels are generally born in March, April, July, and August, so you might encounter this issue during these months.

Thankfully, this is a short-term concern that will resolve as the squirrels mature. You may also notice adolescent birds like jackdaws, crows, or pigeons managing to reach the food. Unfortunately, making the bars smaller to prevent access from juvenile squirrels or red squirrels would risk excluding the birds entirely.

If squirrels do manage to get in, adding a sprinkle of chili flakes to the nuts or seeds can effectively deter them without affecting the birds, as they are not bothered by the spice.
