By simply wrapping the aerial around a cold water pipe the low frequency radio waves generated by the LP unit propagate up and down the Water in the pipe so the direction and speed of water flow is unimportant. This means that they do not precipitate as chalk (limescale) and the surrounding water is now reduced in free calcium ions leaving the water much softer.
