The bat boxes outer shell is constructed from recycled plastic made from bale wrap (collected from UK farms) and other plastic waste. Within the outer shell is a wooden roost chamber to provide an attractive roost space for bats. The internal roost chamber is constructed from UK grown rough sawn untreated timber and as a result has a roughened surface which provides plenty of grip for bats to move around, hang and roost from.

In the UK, different bat species have different roost requirements.
