It is very productive and has good resistance to both bolting and disease.Shallots have a rich sweetness more refined than an onion and are excellent in cooking. Historically they have been grown from bulbs, but they are very easy to start from seed and the chance of disease transfer is much reduced. High yields of shallots from seed can usually be harvested before sets.
