Even spiders from dry habitats will live in humid microclimates and in captivity a substrate should be used that will help to recreate conditions in the wild.

Spider Life is a blend of ingredients that provide the ideal mix of structure and moisture retention whilst promoting natural digging and burrowing behaviour. This substrate is also suitable for a wide range of other invertebrates such as scorpions, cockroaches, millipedes, snails and stick insects. Directions:Spread the substrate evenly over the bottom of the enclosure to a depth suitable for the species.

For most species 1-2" (2.5-5cm) is adequate but burrowing species may require 5-6" (12-15cm) of substrate in order to construct their burrows correctly. Spot-clean regularly to remove soiled substrate and replace completely every 2-3 months or at intervals suitable for the species, or if the substrate becomes heavily soiled or too wet. To ensure adequate atmospheric humidity keep the substrate slightly damp by spraying regularly, but avoid making it too wet.

Different areas can be made damper than others to provide humidity gradients within the enclosure. If you are using an under-tank heatmat as your heat source do not use a thick layer of Spider Life as this may the heatmat to overheat.
