Built with the same revered capsule design, custom transformer, and class-A circuit topologies, the sE2200 preserves the sonic character that an entire generation of engineers has come to love for vocals, voice-overs, and diverse instrumental applications. The microphone's construction reflects meticulous attention to detail, featuring two gold-sputtered diaphragms rather than the typical single diaphragm design to optimise acoustic performance. Each capsule is hand-crafted and individually tuned at sE's Shanghai factory, utilising a true externally polarised condenser design instead of inferior backplate or electret alternatives.

The carefully selected discrete components avoid integrated circuits entirely, while state-of-the-art surface-mounted electronics with extremely tight tolerances ensure low noise, consistent performance, and high sensitivity across any source material. Practical functionality comes through -10 dB and -20 dB pad switches that extend dynamic range for close-mic techniques on loud sources like heavy electric guitars, fortissimo brass, and aggressive kick drums. Selectable low-cut filters at 80Hz or 160Hz eliminate unwanted low-frequency rumble and compensate for proximity effect during close recording.

The custom transformer adds substantial depth and weight to the sonic image, while the massively shielded metal housing and all-metal chassis provide excellent rejection of electrical interference.
