“Sennelier Oil Pastel” was born from that collaboration. Over the decades, this range was enriched with metallic colors, iridescent nuances, and thirty new base colors. Beyond the classic nuances, it also includes unique tones and particularly a gray gradient, necessary for a balanced palette.

This evolution is the fruit of a long-term collaboration with European and North American painters who worked with our company to develop a palette of exceptional tones. Sennelier oil pastel is a product that reuses the components used in all Sennelier colors: high quality pigments, a very pure synthetic binder and a mineral wax. The pigments are ground with an inert, non-drying binder that does not oxidize and will not have any effect on the life of the film or the supports.

This base is then mixed with wax (neutral pH). The balance of this mixture gives a peculiar unctuousness to Sennelier oil pastel, and a creamy texture that allows great freedom of pictorial expression. Sennelier oil pastels have an exceptional concentration of pigment that gives them great coloring and covering power, great vibrancy of tones and very good light fastness (except for metallic and fluorescent inks).
