The latter has been completely redesigned; it now has the same fluid clutch as the 12-speed eTap AXS rear derailleur, which works extra well to keep the chain tight. This makes this rear derailleur very suitable to use with a single crankset but, of course, it can also be used with a double crankset. The SRAM Red 22 eTap 11-speed rear derailleur for a max 28T cassette has retained its familiar design in terms of looks and shifting characteristics.

On a max 28T cassette it is easier for a rear derailleur to change gears and maintain the chain tension, as the differences between the sprockets on the cassette are smaller. Only compatible with 11-speed eTap The SRAM Red 22 eTap 11-speed rear derailleur is only compatible with 11-speed eTap shifters, i.e. not with 12-speed Sram eTap AXS.

The battery, however, is interchangeable.
