The box itself is hand painted with patterns of colourful flowers and elements of Buddhist iconography such as the two Vajra on either side of the box. When the top is opened, the box is transformed into an altar with three windows for placing statues of deities. Beneath this is a metal tray for burning incense, sticks of which can be stored in the specially designed long side tray of the lid.
