Liquin Impasto Medium ...Winsor & Newton Liquin Impasto 60ML Winsor & Newton Liquin Impasto Medium is a semi-gloss, quick drying, non-yellowing impasto medium which thickens slowly & extends the tube colour retaining crisp textures and brush strokes without any visible leveling. Liquin Impasto Medium speeds drying depending on the proportions added.

It is touch-dry in one to six days, depending on the climate, colours used and film thickness. It is not recommended for use as a varnish or final coat. When dry, it forms a flexible, tough film that can be varnished in the normal way.

Use it for heavier brush work or palette knives. It provides bulk and allows more blending time. Liquin is a type of alkyd resin medium.

The primary distinction between "Impasto" and "Oleopasto" is that the former dries with a sheen, while the latter dries with a relatively matte finish. They both allow for the creation of more textural qualities with the least amount of flattening out. Mixing Liquin Impasto and Oleopasto for impastos allows the artist to use less paint while also ensuring a more even drying of the impastos with less tendency to crack and shrink.
