But it's just as important that you can control what you hear. Everyone hears differently from their own perspective, so everyone should have control over their own mix. Ideally you will have a sound engineer, but in most cases you or another band member will control the monitor mix from the stage.

Alternatively, a sound engineer at the other end of the room has control, but it's difficult to communicate with them during a show. Instead of a fixed monitor mix from the mixing desk, you can use the PX to set up a simple three-channel monitor mix that allows you to adjust the levels that are most important to you - during the show. For example, one control could control the level of your voice, another the level of your instruments and another a submix of other voices and instruments.
