It is the only automated external defibrillator (AED) that allows for realtime evaluation of chest compressions. The defibrillator combines written and spoken instructions to guide the rescuer through the steps that can lead to defibrillation and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Once the electrodes are applied to the patient, the defibrillator monitors the electrocardiographic rhythm (ECG) of the victim's heart, analyzes this rhythm, and determines whether an electric shock is necessary.
